從前有一個王子被巫婆詛咒了，他每年只能說一個單詞。但是，這個單詞是可以累積的，就是說如果他第一年不說那么第二年就可以說兩個詞,以此類推。
有一天，王子遇到了一個美麗的公主，他深深地愛上了她，他想娶她為妻。他想叫 她“darling”，告訴她“I love you”，對她說“would you please marry me”。可惜，那要9個詞。王子一年只能說一個詞。
為了愛情，王子豁出去了！他辛辛苦苦，咬緊牙關，沉默了9年，苦苦等待了9年。
9年后，王子終于又見到了公主。而且幸運的是，她還沒有結婚，而且還是那么漂亮。
王子簡直難以抑制自己激動的心情。他快步走到公主面前，一字一句、深情款款地對公主說:“Darling,I love you, would you please marry me？”
公主遲疑了一下，然后說出了一句讓王子吐血不止的話。
