"Would you mind telling me, Doctor," Bob asked ..." how you detect a mental deficiency in somebody who appears completely normal?"
"Nothing is easier," he replied. "You ask him a simple question which everyone should answer with no trouble. If he hesitates, that puts you on the track."
" Well, What sort of question?"
"Well, you might ask him, 'Captain Cook made three trips around the world and died during one of them ,Which one?' "
Bob thought for a moment, and then said with a nervous laugh, "You wouldn't happen to have another example, would you? I must confess I don't know much about history."
“大夫,”鮑伯問(wèn),“您能跟我說(shuō)下嗎,怎么才能知道一個(gè)表現(xiàn)得完全正常的人有智力缺陷?”
“沒(méi)比這更容易的事了,”大夫說(shuō),“你問(wèn)他一個(gè)誰(shuí)都能輕松回答的簡(jiǎn)單問(wèn)題,如果他拿不準(zhǔn),那你就有譜了。”
“哦,那什么樣的問(wèn)題呢?”
“這樣,你可以問(wèn)他‘庫(kù)克船長(zhǎng)做過(guò)三次環(huán)球旅行,并在其中一次死去,是哪一次?’。”
鮑伯想了一會(huì)兒,然后緊張地笑著說(shuō):“您不會(huì)正好沒(méi)別的問(wèn)題了吧,還有別的么?我得老實(shí)說(shuō),我對(duì)歷史懂得不多。”
