趣味英語：10個(gè)你不知道的英語趣事
英語的普及率雖然全球第一,但即使是母語為英語的英國人、美國人，也不見得熟知英語中一些十分有趣的地方。俄羅斯《真理報(bào)》8日就報(bào)道了十大英語趣事： 1.英語單詞成千上萬，但只有“bookkeeper”（記賬人）是具有連續(xù)3個(gè)雙字母排列的單詞。
2.英語中有6個(gè)元音字母a.e.i.o.u.y（半元音），但“defenselessness”(無防備）和“respectlessness”(不尊重）卻是最長的只含有一個(gè)元音字母的兩個(gè)單詞，那就是元音字母e，并且這兩個(gè)單詞都有15個(gè)字母。
3.“almost”（幾乎）是唯一一個(gè)幾個(gè)字母按字母表順序排列的常用單詞。
4.“honorificabilitudinitatibus”是最長的按一個(gè)輔音字母跟一個(gè)元音字母的順序排列的單詞，共有27個(gè)字母。這個(gè)單詞出現(xiàn)在大文豪莎士比亞的劇本《空愛一場》里，意思是“不勝光榮”。
5.在牛津音域大詞典中，“antidisestablishmentarianism”反對教會與國家分開學(xué)說）曾經(jīng)本認(rèn)為是最長的單詞，但被譯為“硅酸鹽沉著病”的醫(yī)學(xué)術(shù)語"pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanokoniosis"現(xiàn)在則被認(rèn)為是最長的單詞，到底有多少個(gè)字母，自己數(shù)一數(shù)吧，只是讀起來會很費(fèi)勁。
