A helicopter was flying around above Seattle when an electrical malfunction disabled all of the aircraft's electronic navigation and communications equipment. Due to the clouds and haze, the pilot could not determine the helicopter's position and course to steer to the airport.
一架飛機(jī)正盤旋在西雅圖上空，這時(shí)飛機(jī)上發(fā)生電路故障，整個(gè)導(dǎo)航系統(tǒng)和聯(lián)絡(luò)設(shè)備都無法正常運(yùn)行，再加上烏云和薄霧，駕駛員根本無法判斷出飛機(jī)的位置和返回機(jī)場的路線。
The pilot saw a tall building, flew to- ward it, circled, drew a handwritten sign，and held it in the helicopter' s window. The pilot's sign said, "WHERE I AM?” in large letters.
這時(shí)駕駛員看到了一座很高的建筑物，他駛了過去，圍著大樓轉(zhuǎn)圈，并用大寫字母手寫一個(gè)條幅，把它貼在飛機(jī)的窗戶上，“我在哪里?”
People in the tall building quickly responded to the aircraft，drew a large sign，and held it in a building window. Their sign said，"YOU ARE IN A HELICOPTER.”
大樓里的人很快就給了他答案，同樣用大寫字母手寫一個(gè)條幅，并貼在大樓的玻璃窗上:“你在直升飛機(jī)里。”
The pilot smiled，waved, looked at his map，determined the course to steer to SEATAC airport，and landed safely.
飛行員笑了笑，對著他們擺了擺手，他又看了看地圖，便決定返回西達(dá)克機(jī)場的路線，并且安全地著陸了。
After they were on the ground, the copilot asked the pilot how the "YOU ARE IN A HELICOPTER" sign helped determine their position. The pilot responded, "I knew that had to be the MICROSOFT building because they gave me a technically correct, but completely useless answer.”
他們到達(dá)地面后，副駕駛員問駕駛員，你是如何根據(jù)“你在直升飛機(jī)里”這句話來確定他們所在的位置。駕駛員說:“我知道這一定是微軟公司的大樓，因?yàn)樗麄兘o了我一個(gè)技術(shù)上正確可無任何意義的答案。“
