17：1 保羅和西拉，經(jīng)過暗妃波里，亞波羅尼亞，來到帖撒羅尼迦，在那里有猶太人的會堂。
Now when they had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia， they came to Thessalonica， where was a synagogue of the Jews：
17：2 保羅照他素常的規(guī)矩進(jìn)去，一連三個安息日，本著圣經(jīng)與他們辯論，And Paul， as his manner was， went in unto them， and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures，
17：3 講解陳明基督必須受害，從死里復(fù)活。又說，我所傳與你們的這位耶穌，就是基督。
Opening and alleging， that Christ must needs have suffered， and risen again from the dead； and that this Jesus， whom I preach unto you， is Christ.
17：4 他們中間有些人聽了勸，就附從保羅和西拉。并有許多虔敬的希臘人，尊貴的婦女也不少。
And some of them believed， and consorted with Paul and Silas； and of the devout Greeks a great multitude， and of the chief women not a few.
17：5 但那不信的猶太人心里嫉妒，招聚了些市井匪類，搭夥成群，聳動合城的人，闖進(jìn)耶孫的家，要將保羅西拉帶到百姓那里。
But the Jews which believed not， moved with envy， took unto them certain lewd fellows of the baser sort， and gathered a company， and set all the city on an uproar， and assaulted the house of Jason， and sought to bring them out to the people.
17：6 找不著他們，就把耶孫和幾個弟兄，拉到地方官那里，喊叫說，那攪亂天下的，也到這里來了。
And when they found them not， they drew Jason and certain brethren unto the rulers of the city， crying， These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also；
17：7 耶孫收留他們。這些人都違背凱撒的命令，說另有一個王耶穌。
Whom Jason hath received： and these all do contrary to the decrees of Caesar， saying that there is another king， one Jesus.
17：8 眾人和地方官，聽見這話，就驚慌了。
And they troubled the people and the rulers of the city， when they heard these things.
17：9 于是取了耶孫和其馀之人的保狀，就釋放了他們。
And when they had taken security of Jason， and of the other， they let them go.
17：10 弟兄們，隨既在夜間打發(fā)保羅和西拉往庇哩亞去。二人到了，就進(jìn)入猶太人的會堂。
And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea： who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.
17：11 這地方的人，賢于帖撒羅尼迦的人，甘心領(lǐng)受這道，天天考查圣經(jīng)，要曉得這道，是與不是。
These were more noble than those in Thessalonica， in that they received the word with all readiness of mind， and searched the scriptures daily， whether those things were so.
17：12 所以他們中間多有相信的。又有希臘尊貴的婦女，男子也不少。
Therefore many of them believed； also of honourable women which were Greeks， and of men， not a few.
17：13 但帖撒羅尼迦的猶太人，知道保羅又在庇哩亞傳神的道，也就往那里去，聳動攪擾眾人。
But when the Jews of Thessalonica had knowledge that the word of God was preached of Paul at Berea， they came thither also， and stirred up the people.
17：14 當(dāng)時弟兄們便打發(fā)保羅往海邊去。西拉和提摩太仍住在庇哩亞。
And then immediately the brethren sent away Paul to go as it were to the sea： but Silas and Timotheus abode there still.
17：15 送保羅的人帶他到了雅典。既領(lǐng)了保羅的命令，叫西拉和提摩太速速到他這里來，就回去了。
And they that conducted Paul brought him unto Athens： and receiving a commandment unto Silas and Timotheus for to come to him with all speed， they departed.
17：16 保羅在雅典等候他們的時后，看見滿城都是偶像，就心里著急。
Now while Paul waited for them at Athens， his spirit was stirred in him， when he saw the city wholly given to idolatry.
17：17 于是在會堂里，與猶太人，和虔敬的人，并每日在市上所遇見的人辯論。
Therefore disputed he in the synagogue with the Jews， and with the devout persons， and in the market daily with them that met with him.
17：18 還有以彼古羅和斯多亞兩門的學(xué)士，與他爭論。有的說，這胡言亂語的要說什么。有的說，他似乎是傳說外邦鬼神的。這話是保羅傳講耶穌，與復(fù)活的道。
Then certain philosophers of the Epicureans， and of the Stoicks， encountered him. And some said， What will this babbler say？ other some， He seemeth to be a setter forth of strange gods： because he preached unto them Jesus， and the resurrection.
17：19 他們就把他帶到亞略巴古說，你所講的這新道，我們也可以知道嗎。
And they took him， and brought him unto Areopagus， saying， May we know what this new doctrine， whereof thou speakest， is？
17：20 因?yàn)槟阌行┢婀值氖?，傳到我們耳中。我們愿意知道這些事是什么意思。
For thou bringest certain strange things to our ears： we would know therefore what these things mean.
17：21 雅典人，和住在那里的客人，都不顧別的事，只將新聞?wù)f說聽聽（For all the Athenians and strangers which were there spent their time in nothing else， but either to tell， or to hear some new thing.）
17：22 保羅站在亞略巴古當(dāng)中，說，眾位雅典人哪，我看你們凡事很敬畏鬼神。
Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars' hill， and said， Ye men of Athens， I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious.
17：23 我游行的時候，觀看你們所敬拜的，遇見一座壇，上面寫著未識之神。你們所不認(rèn)識而敬拜的，我現(xiàn)在告訴你們。
For as I passed by， and beheld your devotions， I found an altar with this inscription， TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship， him declare I unto you.
17：24 創(chuàng)造宇宙和其中萬物的神，既是天地的主，就不住人手所造的殿。
God that made the world and all things therein， seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth， dwelleth not in temples made with hands；
17：25 也不用人手服事，好像缺少什么，自己倒將生命氣息，萬物，賜給萬人。
Neither is worshipped with men's hands， as though he needed any thing， seeing he giveth to all life， and breath， and all things；
17：26 他從一本造出萬族的人，（本有古卷作血脈），住在全地上，并且豫先定準(zhǔn)他們的年限，和所住的疆界。
And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth， and hath determined the times before appointed， and the bounds of their habitation；
17：27 要叫他們尋求神，或者可以揣摩而得，其實(shí)他離我們各人不遠(yuǎn)。
That they should seek the Lord， if haply they might feel after him， and find him， though he be not far from every one of us：
17：28 我們生活，動作，存留，都在乎他，就如你們作詩的，有人說，我們也是他所生的。
For in him we live， and move， and have our being； as certain also of your own poets have said， For we are also his offspring.
17：29 我們既是神所生的，就不當(dāng)以為神的神性像人用手藝，心思，所雕刻的金，銀，石。
Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God， we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold， or silver， or stone， graven by art and man's device.
17：30 世人蒙昧無知的時后，神并不監(jiān)察，如今卻吩咐各處的人都要悔改。
And the times of this ignorance God winked at； but now commandeth all men every where to repent：
17：31 因?yàn)樗呀?jīng)定了日子，要藉著他所設(shè)立的人，按公義審判天下。并且叫他從死里復(fù)活，給萬人作可信的憑據(jù)。
Because he hath appointed a day， in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained； whereof he hath given assurance unto all men， in that he hath raised him from the dead.
17：32 眾人聽見從死里復(fù)活的話，就有譏誚他的，又有人說，我們再聽你講這個吧。
And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead， some mocked： and others said， We will hear thee again of this matter.
17：33 于是保羅從他們中出去了。
So Paul departed from among them.
17：34 但有幾個人貼近他，信了主，其中有亞略巴古的官丟尼修，并一個婦人，名叫大馬哩，還有別人一同信從。
Howbeit certain men clave unto him， and believed： among the which was Dionysius the Areopagite， and a woman named Damaris， and others with them.
