高考英語:書面表達中形容詞與副詞的誤用

誤：The young man worked very hardly and soon began to get ahead.
正：The young man worked very hard and soon began to get ahead.
譯：那個年輕人很勤奮，他的事業很快有了進展。
析：句中修飾work的是副詞，hardly雖然是副詞，但是意為“幾乎不”，所以用hard，意為“努力地”。
誤：Cotton feels softly.
正：Cotton feels soft.
譯：棉花摸上去很柔軟。
析：feel在此處為系動詞，其后應接形容詞作表語。
誤：She has no alive relatives.
正：She has no living relatives.
譯：她沒有活著的親人。
析：alive是表語形容詞，可做后置定語，但是不能做前置定語，所以句子中要用living。
誤：For them enthusiasm is fairly more important than talent.
正：For them enthusiasm is a lot more important than talent.
譯：對他們來說，熱情比才華更為重要。
析：fairly只能修飾形容詞和副詞的原級，不能修飾比較級，可用于修飾形容詞副詞比較級的副詞或短語有：a lot, a bit, a little, any, by far, even, far, much, no, rather, still等。
誤：I knew terrible something had happened.
正：I knew something terrible had happened.
譯：我知道有可怕的事情發生了。
析：修飾anything, something, everything, nothing等不定代詞的形容詞都要放在它們的后面，做后置定語。
誤：This building is more taller than that one.
正：This building is taller than that one.
譯：這幢樓房比那幢樓高。
析：more只構成比較級，而不能修飾比較級。
誤：The weather here is nicer than Wuhan.
正：The weather here is nicer than that of Wuhan.
譯：這兒的天氣比武漢的天氣好。
析：同樣的事物才能相比較，句中的weather和Wuhan不具有可比性，只有“這里的天氣”和“武漢的天氣”才能放在一起比較。
誤：I’d rather play tennis than swam.
正：I’d rather play tennis than swim.
譯：我不想游泳，我寧愿去打網球。
誤：She is the most beautiful of the two girls.
正：She is the more beautiful of the two girls.
譯：她是兩個姑娘中較漂亮的那個。
析：兩者相比較時，比較級前用定冠詞，三者或三者以上的比較才用most。
析：句中的詞組為would rather do…than do，than后要接動詞原形。
誤：The tulip is the more beautiful flower in John’s garden.
正：The tulip is the most beautiful flower in John’s garden.
譯：郁金香是約翰的花園中最美麗的花朵。
析：表示“……是……中最……的”時，當句子中修飾的名詞是單數的時候，應該用“主語 + be + the + 形容詞/ 副詞最高級 + 單數名詞”表示，不能用比較級。如果要用比較級表達最高級的意思，則可以使用“主語 + be + 形容詞 / 副詞比較級 + than + any other + 名詞單數”來表示。上面的句子也可表達成 Tulip is more beautiful than any other flowers in John’s garden。
