汽車上的小偷
Mr Smith gave his wife ten pounds for her birthday, ten pretty pound notes. So the day after her
birthday, Mrs Smith went shopping. She pueued for a bus, got on and sat down next to an old lady.
After a while, she noticed that old lady's handbag was open. Inside it she saw a wad of pound notes
exactly like the one her husband bad given her. So she quickly looked it her own bag,--- the notes
were gone! Mrs smith was sure that the old lady sitting next to her had stolen them. She thounght
she would have to call the police, but, as she disliked making a fuss and getting people into trouble,
she decided to take back the money from the old lady's handbag and say nothing more about it. She
looked round the bus to make sure nobody was watching, then she carefully put her hand into the old
lady's bag, took the notes and put them in her own bag.
When she got home that evening, she showed her husband the beautiful hat had bought.
"How did you pay for it?" he asked.
"With the money you gave me for my brithday, of course," she replied. "Oh? What's that ,then ?" he asked, as he pointed to a wad of ten pound notes on the table.
史密斯先生給了他妻子10英鎊過生日，是十張漂亮的面額1英鎊的鈔票。在她生日的第二天，史官斯太太去買東西。
她排隊等公共汽車，上車后她坐在一位老太太旁邊。過了一會兒，她注意到那個老太太的手提包開了。 她看到里面
有了一迭1英鎊的鈔票下正象她丈夫給她 的。于是她迅速地看了一下她自己的手提包——鈔票不見了！史密斯太太斷
定是坐在她旁邊的老太太偷走了她的鈔票。她想她應該叫警察。但是她以不愿意大驚小怪讓別人惹麻煩。她決定從老
太太的提包里把錢拿回來，并且什么也不說。她四下看了一看，確信車上沒有人注意她，然后她小心地把她的手伸進
老太太的提包，取走了鈔票并把它們放進了自己的提包里。
那天晚上她回家時，她把她買的漂亮的帽子拿給她的丈夫看。
“你是怎么買下它的？”他問。
“當然是用你的生日給我的錢呀。”她答道。
“喔，那么，那是怎么回事？“他一邊問，一邊指著桌子上的一迭十張1英鎊的鈔票
