俄國皇帝
The Emperor of Russia was once at a gathering in Pariswhen a collection was made for the poor． A very pretty Frenchgirl went to the Emperor and asked for a donation．He pulledout a twentyfranc piece and with a smile said：
"Voila，Mademoiselle，that is for your beautiful eyes．" The girl bowed and still held out her hand．“What is it youwant now？" asked the Emperor．
"Something for the poor，now， please，" replied the girl．

有一次，俄國皇帝出席巴黎的一個集會，人們在集會上為窮人募捐。一位美貌出眾的姑娘走到皇帝跟前請求捐贈。他抽出一張二十法朗的鈔票，笑著說：
“給你，小姐，為你美麗的雙眼。”那姑娘點頭致謝，但是仍然伸著手。“你現在要什么？”
“現在，請為窮人捐一些錢。”姑娘回答。
