A lawyer's dog, running about unleashed, beelines for (直奔）a butcher shop and steals a roast. Butcher goes to lawyer's office and asks, "if a dog running unleashed steals a piece of meat from my store, do I have a right to demand payment for the meat from the dog's owner?" The lawyer answers, "Absolutely."
"Then you owe me $8.50. Your dog was loose and stole a roast from me today."
The lawyer, without a word, writes the butcher a check for$8.50.
Several days later the butcher opens the mail and finds an envelope from the lawyer: $20 due for a consultation.
律師的狗沒拴住到處亂跑，闖進當地一家肉鋪叼走一塊烤肉。
肉販跑到律師事務所問：“假如有條放出來亂跑的狗，從我店里偷了塊肉走，那我有權為這塊肉向狗主人索賠嗎？”
“當然啦。”律師答道。
“那你得給我8塊5，今天你的狗沒管好，叼走我一塊烤肉。”
二話沒說，律師就給肉販開了張8.5元的支票。
過了幾天，肉販打開郵箱，發現有封律師函：應付咨詢費20元。
