          Examinations used to be considered as a useful toolfor teachers to judge the learning progress of thestudents and see if any subject should be re-taughtor explained differently. Useful as the tool is,complaints among students and the society aboutexamination are still quite common. Many people ask, “Do examinations exert a negative influence onstudents?” In my point of view, the answer is yes. As the saying goes that every coin has twosides,examinations are no exception. Besides their advantages, examinations also exert anegative influence on students. On the one hand, examinations restrict students’ knowledgelearning and competence building. Because lots of things, such as school admission,employment, certificate acquisition etc., are determined by examination results, it’s nowonder that students have to attach great importance to examinations. Under suchcircumstances, examinations do not motivate students to read widely and seek knowledge butrestrict their reading because what has to be learnt is rigidly laid down by a syllabus. They donot motivate students to build their competence but induce cramming just for higher testscores. On the other hand, examinations affect teachers’ teaching,which directly influencesstudent. Teachers are often judged by their students’ examination scores.

          過(guò)去人們認(rèn)為考試是老師檢驗(yàn)學(xué)生學(xué)習(xí)進(jìn)度的一個(gè)有用工具,這樣老師會(huì)決定是否有需要重新講解的內(nèi)容,或是需要用不同方式解釋的內(nèi)容。盡管這種工具很有用,但是學(xué)生和社會(huì)對(duì)考試產(chǎn)生了諸多抱怨。許多人問(wèn)道“考試是否會(huì)對(duì)學(xué)生不利”我認(rèn)為會(huì)的。有句老話(huà)即,凡事都有兩面,考試也不例外。除了考試的壞處,考試也對(duì)學(xué)生產(chǎn)生不利的影響。一方面,考試不利于學(xué)生學(xué)習(xí)知識(shí),以及能力發(fā)展。但是又因?yàn)樯龑W(xué)、就業(yè)、證書(shū)獲取等原因,這些都由考試而決定。難怪,學(xué)生不得不重視考試。在這樣的情況下,考試限制了學(xué)生的閱讀范圍,和獲取知識(shí),限制了他們的閱讀,因?yàn)閷W(xué)生的學(xué)習(xí)內(nèi)容是嚴(yán)格按照大綱的要求設(shè)計(jì)的。考試不利于學(xué)生發(fā)展能力,考試會(huì)產(chǎn)生臨時(shí)抱佛腳,考取考分的狀況。另一方面,考試影響了老師的教學(xué),這直接影響了學(xué)生。老師通常會(huì)通過(guò)學(xué)生的考試成績(jī)來(lái)判斷學(xué)生。

          As a result, they make great efforts to train their students in exam techniques rather thantransmitting knowledge and fostering talents. In conclusion, the negative influence ofexaminations on students does exist and can’t be neglected.

          所以,老師要花更多的時(shí)間來(lái)培養(yǎng)學(xué)生的考試技巧,而不是傳播知識(shí),培養(yǎng)人才。總結(jié),考試對(duì)學(xué)生的負(fù)面影響存在,并不可忽視。
