古時候，有個人想造一輛很精巧的車子。他不去學(xué)習(xí)別人制造車子的實際經(jīng)驗，卻把自己關(guān)在家里冥思苦想。費了很多功夫，車子雖然造好了，但是推出去卻不能使用。至于我們現(xiàn)在所說的“閉門造車”，則是形容不顧實際，也不吸取別人的經(jīng)驗，一味主觀地杜撰瞎造的意思，好比關(guān)起門來在家里制造車子，而完全不考慮門外的實際情況和實際需要，結(jié)果就不合規(guī)格，不能適用。

It is also used metahhorically to mean being too subjective and disregrading the rest of the world.
