讓人捧腹的英語文化陷阱~The Hong Kong dog
一次在一堂電腦課上，鈴響后，系里的女秘書突然跑到教室來宣布：“Dr. Walker has a touch of the Hong Kong dog and will be here a little bit late。” 聽完宣布后，我一臉正經(jīng)地向坐在隔壁的美國朋友抱怨說：“Dr. Walker 怎么可以撫弄他的愛犬以至于來不及上課呢?”老美聽完后居然大笑著說：“真是太好笑了!The Hong Kong dog 并非指一種狗，而是指某人吃壞了肚子、拉肚子的意思。”這一解釋讓我尷尬得無地自容。 (摘自《世界日報》)
