Little Jack
Little Jack is very fond of sweetmeats, and he has been forbidden to ask for dessert. The other day, there was a grand dinner and they forgot to serve the poor little fellow. Jack was much affected, but as he is very obedient, he remained silent.
"Mary, "said the father to the maid-servant, "pass me a plate."
"Won't you have mine, papa?" cried little Jack, "It is very clean!"

小杰克非常愛吃甜食， 他的父母禁止他再吃甜點心。有一天，在
一個盛大的宴會上，人們忘了照顧這個可憐的小家伙。杰克非常不自然，
但他很聽話，一直沒吭聲。
這時，杰克的父親對女仆說：“瑪麗，給我一個盤子。”
小杰克大聲說道：“爸爸，要不要我的盤子，它上面一點東西也沒有，
非常干凈！”
