在托福考試中，尤其是口語(yǔ)和寫作部分，經(jīng)常會(huì)考到如Do you prefer to eat prepared food or food made by yourself？這類討論飲食的題目。或者例如Nowadays, food has become easier to prepare. Has this change improved the way people live? 這類把食物與生活質(zhì)量相聯(lián)系的寫作題。今天我們就來整理一下與“食”相關(guān)的諺語(yǔ)。
與蔬菜有關(guān)的諺語(yǔ)
1. salad days （“青蔥”歲月， 也就是年輕少不更事，沒有閱歷的一段時(shí)間。）
John was in his salad days then and fell in love easily.
約翰當(dāng)時(shí)少不更事，輕易就墜入了情網(wǎng)。
2. beet red （窘得）滿臉通紅。
When she realized her mistake, she turned beet red.

3. like two peas in a pod （一模一樣）
The twins are like two peas in a pod.
那對(duì)雙胞胎長(zhǎng)得一模一樣。
3. as cool as a cucumber （泰然自若）
Even in the emergency, she remained as cool as a cucumber.
即便遭遇突發(fā)事件，她也能保持沉著冷靜。
4. hot potato （棘手的問題）
All of them avoid talking about the hot potato.
他們所有人都對(duì)這個(gè)棘手的問題避而不談。

This course is as good as a chocolate teapot, so I want to quit next semester.

A storm in a tea cup/a tempest in a teapot 小題大做。
