中文寫作中學會用些修辭手法自然會讓文章增色不少，而托福作文也是一樣。在托福作文中恰當的運用修辭會讓文章更顯活力。托福作文中的修辭手法是比較講究技巧的，只有恰當使用才會產生意想不到的效果。反之，則是適得其反。而在托福作文中最常見的修辭手法就是比喻，下面就為大家詳解一下各類比喻法。
1) Simile（明喻）：It is a figure of speech which makes a comparison between two unlike elements having at least one quality or characteristic in common. To make the comparison, words like as, as……as, as if and like are used to transfer the quality we associate with one to the other. For example, As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.2) Metaphor（暗喻）：It is like a simile,also makes a comparison between two unlike elements, but unlike a simile, this comparison is implied rather than stated. For example, the world is a stage.
3) Analogy（類比）：It is also a form of comparison, but unlike simile or metaphor which usually uses comparison on one point of resemblance, analogy draws a parallel between two unlike things that have several common qualities or points of resemblance.
明喻和暗喻的修辭比較簡單，是托福寫作常用技巧，在運用的時候想到什么適合的本體和喻體就可以進行“喻”，要修飾什么物體也都可以比喻。總之，托福作文過程中，應該根據文章的內容來施加正確的修飾方法，這樣才能令文章更加出奇制勝。
