怒問孟子：你為什么不懂英語？
據環球時報報道，近期在上海舉行的翻譯資格考試中，應試者英語知識水平都較高，可是出現了不少不可理解的幼稚錯誤。在漢譯英題目里，有“人之初，性本善”、“富貴不能淫”等在中國婦孺皆知的孟子格言，有考生在試卷上赫然翻譯為：
“Since the beginning of human beings, sex is always good（人之初，性愛本來美好）”、
“Be rich, but not sexy（要富貴，不要性感）”。
于是,連外國人也唏噓不已起來。韓國《中央日報》就刊發了一篇題為《令人心寒的中國人漢語功底》的文章，感嘆道:一直以漢語為驕傲的中華民族卻在自己的教育領域里冷落著漢語。
作為國民道德支柱之一的孟子格言,被理解成這個樣子,我們究竟該向誰問罪？浮名以為，我們還是先慢指責考生對中華文明的背叛。我們的莘莘學子, 從小學就開始接受英語教育,一直到大學畢業,粗略統計一下，花在英語學習上的時間,平均每天在三小時以上,如此沉重的英語學習負擔，有幾個人能再變出時間來接受中華民族文化的熏陶?他們能夠認得那么古奧的漢字就已經了不起了,我們還忍心求全責備么?
因此,我們問罪的對象不應該是現在的莘莘學子,而應該是鑄造了千百年來中華民族精神的孟子,當初他寫作的時候,應該用英語，不該使用漢語!
總結起來，孟子的罪狀有三：
一、 現代中國人的聰明才智舉世聞名，無論哲學文化科技等方面都有杰出成就，令世人無比贊嘆。可是，僅僅因為不懂你孟老夫子的格言含義，就讓韓國人譏笑。如此讓現代中國人出丑，你孟老夫子居心何在？
二、為了和國際接軌，我們的英語教學政策的制定者含辛茹苦，制訂了盡善盡美的英語教學大綱，讓學子們全心埋頭于英語學習，哪有時間來理會你孟老夫子的精義？學子們翻譯不來你的格言，不僅害得學子出丑，也害得我們的英語教學政策制訂者尷尬得抬不起頭來。如此行為，簡直罪大惡極！
三、 你老夫子是圣人，就該推知2000年后的今天，漢語學習在中國已經沒落。君不見，現在的教學大綱里，規定的大學生學《大學語文》課程只有多少時間，而英語學習又必須花多少時間？兩者的學習用功度，不成比例。連這點都推知不了，還虧你享有圣人的稱號？
孟老夫子，當初你寫作的時候，就該使用英語，而不要用當時英語還沒產生來搪塞！
