Make friends bravely and righteously, conduct oneself with a pure heart.
原文：交友須帶三分俠氣，做人要存一點(diǎn)素心。
釋義：交友要有一些俠肝義膽，作人要有一顆赤子之心。
英譯：When making friend, a spirit of being brave and righteous is needed while conducting oneself, a sincere and kind heart is needed.
【和心：誠(chéng)心和氣，愉色婉言】
Being honest and calm is better than taking care of physical and psychological health.
原文：人能誠(chéng)心和氣、愉色婉言，使父母兄弟間形骸兩釋、意氣交流，勝于調(diào)息觀心萬(wàn)倍矣！
釋義：一個(gè)人心性真誠(chéng)平和，就能使父母兄弟互相關(guān)系融洽，彼此了解，這要?jiǎng)龠^調(diào)理身心千萬(wàn)倍。
英譯：If a man has a sincere and calm manner with a pleasant countenance, he would be able to get along well with his parents and brothers. They can understand each other. It is far better than concentrating on his physical and psychological health.
【平心：先降自心，群魔退聽】
Want to conquer devils, conquer one's own mind first.
原文：降魔者先降自心，心伏則群魔退聽。馭橫者先馭此氣，氣平則外橫不侵。
釋義：要制服妖魔就先制服自己的心，這樣群魔就會(huì)退卻。要駕馭橫暴行為就先駕馭這種情緒，這樣才能抵制外來橫逆之事的侵害。
英譯：If you want to conquer devils, conquer one's own mind first. If you want to control high-handed behavior, look inwards to yourself and control your own mood first.
【喜心：和氣致祥，喜神多瑞】
Harmony brings peace; joy brings luck.
原文：疾風(fēng)怒雨，禽鳥戚戚；霽日光風(fēng)，草木欣欣。可見天地不可一日無和氣，人心不可一日無喜神。
釋義：狂風(fēng)暴雨中，飛禽憂心忡忡；風(fēng)和日麗時(shí)，草木欣欣向榮。由此可見，天地不可以一天沒有祥和的氣氛，人心不可以一天沒有欣喜的情緒。
英譯：During storms, birds feel careworn; on sunny days, vegetation flourishes. This shows that the universe cannot be short of a warm and peaceful atmosphere even for a single day and that a man should not lack happiness even for a single day.
【察心：靜中觀心，真妄畢見】
Observe one's heart, true or false fully visualize.
原文：夜深人靜獨(dú)坐觀心，始覺妄窮而真獨(dú)露，每于此中得大機(jī)趣；既覺真現(xiàn)而妄難逃，又于此中得大慚忸。
釋義：夜深人靜時(shí)獨(dú)自坐下來體察內(nèi)心世界，起初發(fā)覺虛妄之心全然消失而真心流露，每當(dāng)此時(shí)就能頗有樂趣；繼而發(fā)覺虛妄之心難以擺脫，又會(huì)在此時(shí)倍感慚愧。
英譯：Sitting down alone at night when all is still, a man experiences and observes his inner world. At the start, he will find that unfounded things have completely vanished and sincerity has been revealed. Every time right now, he feels contentment. Yet afterwards, he would find it hard to shake off the unfounded things, and therefore feel rather ashamed of this moment.
【清心：澹泊明志，肥甘喪節(jié)】
A simple life shows the true goal; material desires sap the will.
原文：蔾口莧腸者，多冰清玉潔；袞衣玉食者，甘婢膝奴顏。蓋志以澹泊明，而節(jié)從肥甘喪也。
釋義：享用粗茶淡飯的人，操守多像冰一般純清，玉一般潔凈；追求華服美味的人，多甘愿卑躬屈膝。大概志向要以清心寡欲體現(xiàn)，而節(jié)操會(huì)因貪圖物欲喪失。
英譯： A man enjoying a spare meal is mostly able to keep his personal integrity ice-pure and jade-clean, while a man courting caparison and ambrosia is mostly willing to kiss the ground. Probably, a true goal can only be reached by a pure heart and few desires, while personal integrity can be swallowed by an acquisitive mind.
【憂心：居安思危，處亂思治】
Think danger in safety; think stability in turmoil.
原文：居卑而后知登高之為危，處晦而后知向明之太靄；守靜而后知好動(dòng)之過勞，養(yǎng)默而后知多言之為躁。
釋義：處在低處然后才知道攀登高處很危險(xiǎn)，處在暗處然后才知道面對(duì)光亮很刺眼；保持寧?kù)o的心態(tài)然后才知道喜歡活動(dòng)太辛苦，保持沉默的心性然后才知道多說話很煩躁。
英譯：If you live in low places, only then do you understand the danger in high-altitude climbing. Staying in dark places, you appreciate how dazzling it can be to to face the light. Keeping calm, it can become worrisome to be active. Keeping silent, it can make you seem boring to talk more.
【常心：淡中知真味，常里識(shí)英奇】
Light diets prove real tastes; common things prove heroes.
原文：醲肥辛甘非真味，真味只是淡；神奇卓異非至人，至人只是常。
釋義：烈酒肥肉苦辣酸甜不算真味，真味只是清淡；神奇絕妙卓越優(yōu)異不算完人，完人只是常人。
英譯:Strong drinks and fat, sour, sweet, bitter and hot - all these cannot be considered real tastes. A real taste is only a delicate one. Miraculous and ingenious, outstanding and excellent, all these cannot make a person perfect; a perfect person is only a common one.
