　　黃玉的英文名可能源自紅海扎巴賈德島，該島舊稱“托帕焦斯(Topazios)”，意為“難尋找”，因該島常被大霧籠罩不意發(fā)現(xiàn)而得名。也有一些權(quán)威人士認(rèn)為是由梵文Topas衍生而來(lái)，意為“火彩”。中文譯為黃玉，又名托帕石。
