2017英語(yǔ)專業(yè)八級(jí)作文話題：新生開學(xué) 家長(zhǎng)止步

　　9月第一周，各大高校已陸續(xù)進(jìn)入開學(xué)季。近日，清華大學(xué)在校園內(nèi)拉起“家長(zhǎng)止步”的警戒線，其提倡新生獨(dú)立報(bào)到的舉措引發(fā)公眾熱議。有人認(rèn)為這是新生學(xué)習(xí)獨(dú)立的第一步，很有教育意義。When TsinghuaUniversity’s new 2013 freshmen arrived on campus late last month, the first question they wereconfronted with at the registration desk was: “Did you come alone or with your parents?”

　　八月末清華大學(xué)迎來了2013屆新生，他們?cè)趫?bào)到時(shí)遇到的第一個(gè)問題便是：“你是自己來的還是跟父母一起來的?”

　　According to statistics released after the first batch of the freshmen enrolled in the university,more than half of the 539 students came alone. In a letter to freshmen this year, Chen Jining,the president of Tsinghua University, encouraged them to “start this new adventure bystanding on your own two feet.”

　　根據(jù)清華大學(xué)公布的數(shù)據(jù)顯示，在該校第一批報(bào)到的539名新生中，有超過半數(shù)的人獨(dú)自來報(bào)到。今年，清華大學(xué)校長(zhǎng)陳吉寧在致2013級(jí)新生的信中，鼓勵(lì)他們“自主自立地開始新的奮斗歷程。”

　　To help freshmen grow up, some universities have thought of new methods. At Tsinghua, forexample, freshmen need to register and find their dormitory by themselves. The processrequires two to three hours, during which volunteers take parents on a tour of the campus.

　　為幫助新生們盡快成長(zhǎng)，高校紛紛出臺(tái)了一系列新舉措。例如，清華大學(xué)要求新生獨(dú)自報(bào)到并入住宿舍。這一流程通常需要兩三個(gè)小時(shí)，而在這段時(shí)間里，志愿者會(huì)帶領(lǐng)學(xué)生家長(zhǎng)來參觀校園。

　　At Zhejiang University, a banner hanging in the information center says “Parents let go please;let us escort your children.” Lu Guodong, dean of undergraduate studies at Zhejiang University,coined the slogan.

　　今年，浙江大學(xué)的問詢處掛起條幅：“請(qǐng)家長(zhǎng)放手,讓我們護(hù)航”。而這條標(biāo)語(yǔ)的發(fā)起人正是浙大本科生院副院長(zhǎng)陸國(guó)棟。

　　“Often parents like to do things or make decisions for their children. In their eyes, childrennever grow up,” said Lu.

　　陸國(guó)棟說：“家長(zhǎng)們總是會(huì)為子女著想，替他們做決定。在父母眼里，他們永遠(yuǎn)是長(zhǎng)不大的孩子。”

　　“But at university, growing up is the goal for all students. Growing up is the biggest success. InChina, students grow up too slowly as parents are always in charge. Students never think aboutwhat path they should take and why,” said Lu.

　　陸國(guó)棟說：“但在大學(xué)里，所有學(xué)生都要學(xué)著成長(zhǎng)。成長(zhǎng)就是最大的成就。中國(guó)的學(xué)生成長(zhǎng)較慢，因?yàn)榧议L(zhǎng)總是大包大攬。學(xué)生們從不思考應(yīng)該選擇走什么樣的道路以及為何要做出這種選擇。”

　　Zhang Yanxue, a senior student studying Chinese language and literature at theCommunication University of China, is the president of the Self-improvement Society.Together with the other members of the society, Zhang welcomes freshmen at Beijing RailwayStation. Although most students can finish the registration process by themselves, their parentsusually prefer accompanying them to the university.

　　來自中國(guó)傳媒大學(xué)中文系的大四學(xué)生張顏雪是該校自強(qiáng)社的社長(zhǎng)。張顏雪和社團(tuán)成員一同在北京火車站迎接新生。盡管大部分學(xué)生可以獨(dú)立完成報(bào)到流程，但是家長(zhǎng)都堅(jiān)持要陪孩子報(bào)到。

　　“This is the third time I’ve welcomed freshmen and I didn’t see much change in that regard,”Zhang said. “The number of students who came alone is the same as in previous years. I sawtwo girls who came without their parents, that was really impressive.”

　　張顏雪說：“我是第三次接新生了，但這點(diǎn)依舊沒怎么變。今年獨(dú)自報(bào)到的學(xué)生數(shù)量同前幾年一樣。我看到有兩名女生獨(dú)自來校報(bào)到，的確讓我印象深刻。”

　　Later, another girl arrived at the railway station with all her luggage and looked around for heruniversity’s welcome team. She was Jin Hongting, 19, from Hebei province and will studyindustry and business administration at Beijing Union University.

　　隨后，又有一名女生拎著行李下了火車，四下尋找自己學(xué)校的新生接待人員。這位女生名叫金紅婷(音譯)，今年19歲，來自河北省。她即將開始在北京聯(lián)合大學(xué)工商管理專業(yè)的學(xué)習(xí)生活。

　　Jin soon found the welcome team, but when they offered to carry her luggage she politelyrefused their help. “It’s not heavy. I can do this myself,” she said.

　　金紅婷很快就找到了新生接待人員，但是當(dāng)他們主動(dòng)幫她提行李時(shí)，金紅婷委婉地拒絕了，她說：“行李不重，我自己可以。”

　　When asked why she came alone, Jin said: “It only takes four hours from my hometown toBeijing. There’s no need to bother my parents to help me.”

　　當(dāng)被問到為何獨(dú)自來報(bào)到時(shí)，金紅婷說：“從家到學(xué)校僅需四個(gè)小時(shí)，沒必要麻煩父母。”

　　Sometimes, however, the distance between university and home is so great that many parentsare too worried to let their children travel alone. To reassure parents, Renmin University ofChina introduced a new method. It asks senior students to return to their hometown andaccompany freshmen back to the campus. This helps freshmen get used to livingindependently.

　　然而有時(shí)，新生要到離家很遠(yuǎn)的地方去上學(xué)，許多家長(zhǎng)不放心讓孩子獨(dú)自遠(yuǎn)行。為了讓家長(zhǎng)放心，中國(guó)人民大學(xué)推薦了一個(gè)新辦法。學(xué)校號(hào)召高年級(jí)學(xué)長(zhǎng)回家，然后同新生結(jié)伴返校。這樣能夠幫助新生盡快適應(yīng)獨(dú)立生活。

　　“Students should have an independent character and a dream. Learning how to use thatindependent character to achieve their dream and finish tasks assigned by the country is veryimportant,” said Tsinghua University President Chen.

　　清華大學(xué)校長(zhǎng)陳吉寧說：“學(xué)生們應(yīng)該擁有獨(dú)立的人格和夢(mèng)想。學(xué)會(huì)用獨(dú)立的人格去成就夢(mèng)想，并完成國(guó)家所賦予的使命，這點(diǎn)至關(guān)重要。”
