　　With the number of mobile phone users increasing, the short message has become a common means of communication. Some people take it for granted that it is a blessing, while others argue that it is a curse. Write a composition of about 400 words to state your view.

　　The Short Message: a Curse or a Blessing?

　　As we all know, angels and devils are two poles apart, but the short messagecombines them perfectly. Some people take it for granted that it is a blessing, while others argue that it is a curse. As I see it, there is an element of truth in both views.

　　On the one hand, no one can deny the fact that the short messagebrings about many benefits. First, it is a more economical and convenient way of communication compared with phoning. Chatting by means of short message, one need not worry about disturbing others, especially when having a meeting or class. Nor need he or she trouble himself or herself with the high fees when communicating with a friend in another city or country.Another merit of the short messageis that it is somewhat like a short letter. What one feels necessary but embarrassing to say on phone can be written down and sent in the form of a short message.For instance, through short messages, one can make apologies to his girlfriend, submit a letter of resignation to his boss or urge payment of debt from his customer.Last but not least, one can subscribe to mobile papers and learn about the world by means of short message.

　　However, on the other hand, it is never without drawbacks. To begin with, many unwanted and useless messages may waste people’s time or even disturb people. We expected some messages were vital, but they turned out to be rubbish.In addition, the appearance of short messages also arouses people’s concern for their privacy. To be exact, people may fear that their privacy is invaded.To add to the undesirability of the short message, it has been frequently used by some to cheat people out of their money. There may be few who haven’t received the message “Please remit the money into this account……”

　　In the final analysis, I should admit honestly that I cannot give a yes-no answer to this question. Actually, the short messageshould be viewed as a two-edged sword, which presents both conveniences and troubles. But we should not give up eating for fear of choking. The best policy, as I see it, is to maximize its advantages and eliminate its unhealthy influence. Or in other words, we should further develop the short messageand exert more supervision on its use so that it can serve us in a better way.

　　With the largest population in the world, many Chinese cities are crowded. So some people suggest that pets should not be allowed for the well being of humans. But others insist that pets are the best friends of human beings and that they cannot live without their animal friends. Write a composition of about 400 words to state your view.
