Reform of English Education
As college English education is greatlyemphasized with the rapid development of global communication，tbe defects that exist inthe current educational system are open to more criticism- It is widely acknowledged that athorough reform of college English education should be under way.
People ask for English education reform mainly because of the Inadequacy of collegeEnglish education under the current system. On the one hand, many college English teachersunderestimate the role interest plays in English learning and keep preaching in class. On theother hand, under the current system, most Chinese students tend to separate vocabularymemorizing, grammar, listening, speaking, reading, and writing from each other and thereforetheir English is also “broken” in this way. This has also greatly contributed to the “dumbEnglish” of many Chinese students.
In my view, to reform English education, colleges and universities should encouragestudents to speak English in class and hold more activities to promote students' oral English.Teachers should focus on attracting students with vivid teaching and arouse students'enthusiasm in learning English.
