Due Attention Should Be Given To the Study of Chinese
Currently, there is a growing concern for difficulty in the mother tongue language amonguniversity students. Foreign language learning, not Chinese, has become a commonoccurrence on our campus. Obviously, more and more experts are beginning to be aware ofthe seriousness of this problem.
A number of reasons can be easily found for this. For one thing, students pay more attentionto English study than Chinese training. For another thing, the companies, especially the gainfulemployment, focus on the candidates' foreign language skills. What's more, Chinese plays a lessimportant role in university courses. In other words, teachers also feel unnecessary to holdfurther studies on Chinese. Consequently, language learners found inability in gaining Englishsuccessfully, or they may feel having difficulties in understanding in other languages.
As far as I am concerned, the correct and exact expression in Chinese ought to be theprimary concern for foreign languages studies, which means Chinese, our mother tongue, isthe foundation for understanding, expressing and learning other languages. Obviously, it isnecessary that effective actions should be taken to prevent the above situation.
