        范文一:新東方版
Everyone tries to achieve success in his career. However, someone firmly attains his goal while another fails. Why? The one continues his cause to the end through long periods of hard struggling, but the other is easily disappointed or stops halfway.

Good preparation, perseverance and diligence are the three essentials of success. A man of solid preparation and perseverance always has an inflexible spirit. He sticks to his cause no matter how tough it might be. Dr. Sun Yat-sen was such a man. Many of his attempts failed, but he held to his purpose with firmness and finally succeeded in overthrowing the Qing Dynasty. Diligence means steadiness in one’s work and study. Su Qin stabbed himself in order to keep himself attentive to studies. Marx often worked 15 hours a day. Life is short and we have many things to do. Without diligence no one can achieve anything.

I believe that where there is a preparation there is a way, and that success belongs to those who can suffer long years of patient toil and constant efforts.

The Way to Success First essay—stream of thought type

No one has the exclusive way to success. Some say money. Some say love. Others say a house, a car, a child, a degree from a top university—but all are of these are only outward ways to show others that we’re successful. People think that they must have these things before they can be happy, but Scott Achor in “The Happiness Advantage” says that the opposite is true. Achor, who is a professor at Harvard University and who has been teaching the “Happiness Course” for fifteen years, recently wrote this book to show that happiness breeds success, not the other way around. When I read it, it struck a chord with me and I realized that truly positive, happy people always seem to love what they do and who they are with. Even if times get tough, they don’t knuckle under. They persevere and overcome all obstacles.

To me, the way to success is to figure out what you truly believe in and love in life. You should write up a mission statement about how you can contribute to the world by doing what is meaningful to you. Then, you should go after your dream—no matter what it is or if it fits society’s version of a successful reality. Set goals, divide them into specific tasks, learn what you need to learn, do what you need to do and always keep the prize in mind. The way to success is to have a clear vision of your future and know what will make you happy. If you are doing what you love, with people that you care about, and making a meaningful contribution to the world, you will not only be happy, but you will be successful.

          解析:
這是一篇議論文。結(jié)構(gòu)非常清晰,首先由Achor教授提出的success與happiness之間的關(guān)系,暗示了自己對于成功的解讀。第二段,告訴讀者the way to success的具體幾個步驟:Set goals, divide them into specific tasks, learn what you need to learn, do what you need to do and always keep the prize in mind.

          1. exclusive way to success
          2. happiness breeds success, not the other way around
          3. it struck a chord with me
          4. knuckle under

        范文三:大家版
           The Way to Success

There are many ways that lead to success, such as an intelligent mind, a strong will or a passionate heart. For Abraham Lincoln, his way of success is to make full preparations. He would spend 2/3 of his time “sharpening his axe”, which is truly phenomenal.

Lincoln's famous remark embodies great wisdom, carrying at least two important implications. Success never comes to us accidentally, but as a result of continuous and patient planning and preparing. Having defined our goal, we must have a clear idea about the means to attain the goal. Without sufficient preparations, many of our efforts would be random and we would most probably end up in failure.

Another crucial implication is that, in order to succeed, we must keep “sharpening our axe”. Ours is a technology-dominated world and our social progress is inextricably connected with technological advances. It is perhaps because of Lincoln’s wisdom that the United States lays special emphasis on developing technologies and has become the world’s most technologically developed country.

Keeping Lincoln’s wisdom in mind, we should be well prepared in everything we do. Moreover, we should never stop where we are and keep searching for more effective means to reach our objectives.

It fits society’s version of a successful reality
