what's your opinion about english text book?

i'm a senior student.
i have benefited a lot from my science textbooks such as physics ,maths and so on.
however, when i use the same way to crack the english textbook,i realized that i gained little.


have any of u ever cracked an english textbook or other english-learing materials before and gained a lot from it? what is it?
if u have, can u tell me the correct way to crack an english textbook?
if u haven't ,what's your most effective way to study english ?
can u share the most precious experience about learning english with me--a quite confused english learner?
